Curt Romany is the kind of storyteller you only meet in motion.

Born in Brooklyn and raised between New York and Trinidad during the first half of his life, Curt was shaped early by culture, movement, and dual perspective. That foundation set the tone for a life lived across cities, industries, and communities — learning how to adapt quickly, read people instinctively, and connect anywhere in the world.

Before creating Layover Legends, Curt lived many lives that all shared one common thread: human connection. He was an elite basketball athlete, a youth counselor at the Boys & Girls Club in Brooklyn from the age of 14, and later a championship-winning youth basketball coach dedicated to mentorship and leadership. Working with young people taught him a lasting truth — that the right conversation at the right moment can change a life.

That belief followed him into hospitality.

Over the years, Curt lived and worked in Hollywood, Miami and Los Angeles, cities that sharpened his global awareness and people-first instincts. In Los Angeles, he became known as a celebrity bartender, serving creatives, artists, and public figures in high-energy, high-profile environments where conversation mattered as much as craft. Those experiences taught him how to hold space — whether for a stranger, a star, or someone in between.

It was behind airport bars, however, that everything clicked.

Curt noticed something most people overlook: travelers at layovers are uniquely open. Guarded walls come down. Stories spill out. People reflect, reconnect, and dream between flights. Layovers aren’t dead time — they’re rare, honest pauses.

Layover Legends was created to honor those moments.

Blending Curt’s background in storytelling, sports, counseling, hospitality, and the arts, Layover Legends is more than a card game — it’s a social experience designed to spark meaningful conversations anywhere people pass through. From airport bars and restaurants to couples’ nights, solo travelers, and global citizens, the brand invites people to slow down, ask better questions, and leave each encounter a little more legendary than they found it.

Curt is also an Actor and creative who has worked in films, commercials, and work both in front of and behind the camera. His artistic lens brings cinematic intention and emotional depth to everything he builds — including Layover Legends.

Now based in Atlanta, Curt continues to expand Layover Legends with the same philosophy that has guided his life across cities and seasons:
